I had a fish club meeting today. During the meeting, a lady stopped by and offered us some fish. She said they were fry from two of her Africans. She told us the they were bumblebee/ Red Zebra hybrids. Now, I know it is possible for them to hybridize, but the fry look identical to red zebras. Which is making me think the lady who kept them had it wrong? Maybe she is right. I am uncertain. Here is a video of them:

I am sorry about the quality. I have 11 in a 47g tank with a male multifasciatus. The largest are at 2 inches, the smallest at 1 inch. So, what do you think? It really does not bother me that they may be hybrids, considering almost all cichlids are not 100 percent pure in stock (except for maybe angels and discus). But regardless, if I do not become attached to them, I may sell them in october at an auction, and I don't want to label them as hybrids if they are not. Their selling availability would be compromised. They do look nice though.

Here I was, thinking I could get some ID help in the African Cichlid section, but no, I guess not. I guess I will take this to the hybrid forum, and hope some on there has ever kept Africans.

Not everyone is on every day, but still, I see your point.

I can't tell from the video at all, as at that age, quite a lot look similar anyway. Time will tell, so just stick it out and see how they develop. October is a fair way off anyway, so it's not like there's a rush and by then, you should have no problems ID'ing them.
