Red Tailed Black Shark

Hard to say, some will some won't. They each have individual personalities so you may get away with it. They don't show their true personalities untill they are adults though, so it will be imposible to tell untill they are at a size thats hard to get rid of them at.

Also depends on tank size / aquascape etc, you really need something in the region of 50USG to do the shark justice IMO.

Personally I'd say you'd have more chance of it working than not working, especially if you had them all from young.

If you have a 55 it should work. My shark and 3 peppered cories bugged each other a little bit for about the first week that i introduced them, but i kept a close eye and they do just fine together now.

ok thanks for that, but does anybody know how to prevent snails from getting into your tank?

my 3" red tail black shark get on well with my corries. strangley enough it also gets on with my 6" rainbow shark, i would normally put this down to it being a 122 gallon tank, but they also swim together regularly, also have albino suckers, plecs and pakistani loach in there too, they all get along great! as for the snails, are they coming in with your plants? i never rinsed my plants and got a few, but it wasnt long before my tinfoil barbs wiped them out! :good:

i heard the red tail black shark is extint in the wild

good luck and they should go fine with most fish but i wouldint put a red tail in a community tank

because they will probaly eat most community tank style fish.

First point is correct AKAIK

Second point is rubbish, they're great community fish, you just need to put the in the right community.

hi
its not rubbish i was reading and it said do not put in with moliies platies and guppies etc with are they most comon community fish cuz they will get eatin

Not the case in my experience of keeping one for several years, nor anything I have read.

Firstly the aggression shown by RTBS is territory based, not predatory.

Secondly that aggression is generally only show (obviously there are some exceptions) to fish that inhabit the same area (i.e. mid-bottom) of the tank and particularly those of a similar body shape.

3 outa my 4 tanks have a shark in (Redtailed black shark, Albino Redtailed black shark and a rainbow sharK) No issues what so ever and they are all community tanks some are full guppies with out issue, I'd have one in my 4th tank but my striped headstander hates them for some reason

I agree with @ombomb, i dont even think its possible becasue the mouth isnt big enough. There mouth is downturned and doesnt open very big. This fish like the rainbow and albino rainbow are territoral. They dont usually attack for the sake of it, they do it to proctect there territory.

SNAILS - rinse new plants with cold water to kill any snail eggs that migt ne on them. when addin new fish try not to put water from the bag in the tank also as it may also be carrying eggs.
my tank got over-run with about 100 little snails so i bought 2 clown loaches n they got rid in few days so that did the trick.
