as i have posted in another thread i have a red tailed black shark.
also as posted i seem to have overstocked my tank.

my bf got in tonight and went to feed the fish.

the sharks tail has gone seriously dull and its acting quite strange.
the tail is more orange than red and only yesterday it was a bright vibrant red.

there is no way until sunday that i can take any of these fish back, were expecting a water testing kit in the post tommorow, but until we can do something for these fish what is there i can do for this shark? it was one of the first we got and i really like it, i would hate it to die overnight :(

its hard to tell really, but you might try to add some places the shark can hide. not much i know but it may help.

it may help more if you list the fish, tank size and setup.

if you're waiting for a water test kit and therefore can't check the levels it's safest to assume that they are bad, so you should do a couple of large water changes, do a 50% change, then leave it an hr and then do another 50% change.

can you give us some more details re the tank, how big is it, what fish do you have, how long has it been set up etc?

As mentioned above make sure he has somewhere to hide that can be exclusivley his. my current red tail took about 3 days to come back to proper colour after he was added to the tank and does sometime lose his colour when the barbs in my tank force ihim into hiding occasionally. First sign of stress I guess.

Its a 30 liter tank, temperature 24degrees.

there are plenty of hiding places he keeps going into one of the large plants and none of the other fish are seeing him.

there are quite a few other fish in there, but ive added something from an aquatics shop to the water and he seems to be on the up.

thanks fot the advice guys!!!
