My Red Tail and common Pleco are up to some strange stuff here over the past week and they have me afraid to turn off the light. First the Red Tail was posturing and hovering over my Pleco and giving him/her body smooches. This was odd enough, first I thought it was aggression since no one else in the tank will give my Red Tail (Rodney) any respect. Then yesterday I see the Pleco returning the favor and smooching all over the Red Tail while he remained still and excepting the lovin'.

Is there a natural relationship between these two species or are they getting freaky on me?

I've had Red Tails and Plecos plenty of times before and have never seen anything like this!

If they spawn would anyone be interested in Red Tail Pleco's???

Comments Please.

Thanks

LOL red tailed plecs :hyper:

I'm laughing but have absolutely no real idea if it's possible - sounds a bit far-fetched though.

I'm surprised the red tail isn't bullying the plec! So if they are getting along I guess you got lucky.

Maybe your red tail has bad eyesight eh? Possibly thinks the plec is a cutesy partner LOL

My red tail follows my blue crayfish around everywhere, hardly ever see one without the other swimming alongside.

my ram and SAE are in love aswell lol

where one goes the other follows, its great :)

4 of my guppies are lovin up my sailfin molly :hyper:

This is getting stranger by the minute. Maybe the less we know about what goes on when we turn out the tank lights the better?

LOL I know...

I had a rainbow shark pair up with a little female guppy once. Everywhere the Rainbow went the little guppy was there by his side. I don't think it was love - just two oddbods in the tank wanting companionship I guess!

My Pitbull plec shoals with my cory cats, they sort of bonded, it is very interesting to see them together, but it actually happens quite a bit!

There must be something in the air for red tailed sharks then, last night my red tailed shark was displaying and bumping my pink kissing gourami, they dissapeared behind a rock and I saw a milky white cloud appear and then disperse  . I am having visions of red tailed pink kissing sharks
