Red honey gourami please HELP

Hi I just went to the pet shop and got 2 red honey gourami, I was told that would be fine with the fish i have but my betta is flaring up at them in the bag, so now i am really worried. I was assured that if they dont settle then i can take them back! Could it be that its because they are in the bag I am quite worried any help please

Unfortunately, bettas and gouramis usually do not make good tankmates. The bettas see the long flowing fins of the gouramis as a cue to fight.

Yeah the betta keeps on chasing the honey gouramis around and really flaring up, do you think i should take the gouramis back now or see if all settles which im not too hopeful about?

I really don't like telling folks what to do but, according to everything I've read and the posts of the members of this forum, the best thing to do would be to take them back. There is no need to stress out the fish. Perhaps you could put in a few platies or pick out a few cory catfish. Some one else will probably post some other suggestions as well.

Hi thank yu for the help I have decided to take them back so my partner has just left with them, I couldnt stand watchin them being chased any longer. I am going to stick with what I have at the moment. There seems to be quite a happy mood as they all are So thanks again next time before i buy i will ask you lot for advise. Poor things went through stress hope they be ok!

Sensible decision......But I would have sent the Betta back!
