i am looking after my mates fish whilst he is away and i have had nothing but trouble so far.

the most recent thing i have notcied is that his 2 golden zebra danios appear to have red gill.

i dont know if this is anything to worry about but i have heard of some kind of red gill disease.

they are in a 60l tank with a tiger barb, guppy and an air pump. is this something to be worried about can any one else with the same fish tell me if their has this appearance

thanks

it can be caused by poor water quality. Reduce the feeding to once every couple of days and see how they go. If it appears to be getting worse then do a partial water change. Remove about 1/3 of the tank water and replace it with some clean tap water that has a dechlorinator/ water conditioner in it.
Make sure you use a clean bucket that hasn't been used for chemicals.

yeah
wel at the moment i am doing a daily water change as i am doing a fish in cycle. my test results are perfect

i will reduce the feeding and carry on the water changes

i just wondered as it is only on my golden danios, i wondered if it was just the variety of fish

gold danios have a little less colour in their skin so it's possible it is just their natural colour. But keep doing the water changes and they should be fine. If they start breathing heavily/ more rapidly, or gasping at the surface, then it could be a problem. But if they are swimming around normally and don't appear to be gasping or breathing hard, then they are probably fine and it is just their colour :)

yeah thanks very much, they spend most of their time exploring the plants and rocks at the bottom
