Pretty sure thats what it has anyway. Its scales are at an angle so as it looks like a pine cone. Its swimming and eating fine and shows no sign of illness. Its quite elderly. No other fish are affected. the water conditions are spot on. I have put it into a bowl and its floating around in the tank but whats actually best for it? I've heard of Epsom salts but have never used them before. is it best to euthanise before it starts suffering?

Kept fish for nigh on 30 years and this is the second dropsy I've had. First one was 30 years ago so I don't remember what happened way back then.

Any comments gratefully received.

I've never been successfull trying to cure Dropsy..... I see it, I euthanaze...... & allthough it sounds cruel.... I hurl it against the concrete as hard as I can.....

Dropsy hard to cure once scales stick out as it organ failure.
The bowl not very good. Don't you have an issolation tank.
All you can do is epson salt baths and try a bacterial med.

I decided to let it go with the help of clove oil. It was still perky enough but I felt it was just the right time.

Bless Him.
R.I.P.
