My 2 red eye tetras decided to gang up on my guppies.. and killed 5 guppies. So they are enjoying a nice time out in cups untel i go to the store and just give them back...

Might just of been my luck and got 2 fustrated red eyes.. but they seem to like to chase everything and snip at the fins... only thing they wont mess with is the angel fish, anything smaller then them they seem to pick on..

in my opion they need to be moved to the agression arena :]

Tetras are schooling fish and should be kept in groups of at least 3 and preferably 6 or more. Usually when tetras are in smaller groups, they get very nippy. Maybe it's a defense thing since they can't school, not really sure. I had red-eyes at one time and they never bothered any of the other fish. Was there anything else in the tank at the time and are you sure it wat the tetras that killed them and not bad water parameters (high ammonia or nitrite)?

Good point rdd,
Most tetra's and barbs should be kept in groups prefrably 5+(Although i only have 2 black phantoms i am getting 10 more in febuary)
They will tned to get nippy and in this case you should take theese ones back, once a fish is a agressive it is always agressive- i have a ruby shark that can't be kept with any other fish apart from guppy's as he is aggressive

Im positive my ammonia and nitrites are perfect. I run a 55 saltwater tank aswell, and i have a Bio Chemical Tester kit. I keep everything perfect. And i watched the tetras corner a guppy and kill it, before i took them out. I got rid of the red eyes today. gave them to Petco, Terribly sorry if any of you end up with them

They will probably be fine once they get back with more of their species. It's hard to tell what triggered their aggression. I never had any problems out of mine. I did have some serpaes that ware a little nippy when I only had 3. the were fine when I added 3 more to make 6.
