Red Claw Crab ?

Hi,

A freind of mine brought 3 red claw crab around valetines day for his tank and all 3 apparently died the last death being somtime last week !

however, i woke this morning to see one walking around his tank.

he is adamant he took 3 dead ones out so please explain this to me ?

its not small so can't be a baby so any ideas ?

Did one of the dead crabs he pulled out of the tank look like just a shell? Maybe the crab molted? Shedding its exoskeleton and growing a new one. This could be it or there were four in the tank.

yer i thought it had probably molted cos he hadn't seen it for ages and they hibernate for a while don't they after they got a new skin

I'm not sure about the hibernation, but I do know when a crab molts it is very sensitive and will hide for weeks at a time.
You may want to ask the people in the invertebrate section, somebody over there might have a better answer than I.

omg zombi crabs i knew a guy once that threw away the crab and kept the moult!!! . no no joke plain fact, i still aint stopped laughing.
