red aquarium lights

Does anyone know if colored lights for an african are a bad idea or not?

i think its fine, a mod here CFC uses a red light to mimic the morning sun.

Well this is an interesting thread. I've actually been thinking about red lights recently. I sometimes work nights and when I come home it would be nice to be able to see my fish. I've sometimes turned the lights on at 1 AM but it seems pointless; I'm waking up the ones that are asleep and freaking out the ones that are active, so I've stopped doing it. Red lighting would be cool. Any ideas out there?

I work in aquatics so get all the inside gossip and tricks of the trade lol

Post some pictures when you can, I have never seen a red light in an aquarium.

o yeah. I've done that. I turned on my light around 11. My Raphaels whole bottom half and some of his fins turned completely stark white. I thought i killed him.
