Hi,
Just finishing a fishless cycle, put in Hygrophila Polysperma, Amazon Sword and Straight Valis across the back and back corners. Now looking at what plants to put in mid tank including in front of large piece of bogwood.

Initial thoughts are Mini Twister, Anubias Augustifolia, and Nana. And something smaller like Java moss.

Suggestions of hardy (fast growing?) plants appreciated.

Thanks

I don't know the scientific name for Mini Twister, but the rest of the plants, the anubias and moss, are not fast-growing. What are your lighting levels? What is the size of your tank? Below is a list of easier to grow plants that are arranged based on tank placement.

The tank is 45 Gallons (3'x2'x18", 45 gal sound correct?) It comes with 2 x 30w tubes. As the standard tubes supplied with the tank would it be recommended these need upgrading in the near future?

So any other recommendations for mid to foreground plants (harder than deciding what fish I want, that was easy..)

Hi Squid, looked and printed out this listing recently. Looks very complete. Would the fact his tanks are in Miami mean you would expect major differences, or very few?

Your at work in Guildford, do you live near there and if so what are good lfs you have found? Only ones been impressed with are the Maidenhead Aquatics. One in Mayford seems decent, one in New Haw has been very good. Staff very helpful, appear to know their stuff. Although the rear plants they recommended were different to ones I'd seen on different webpages (Because thats the ones they had in stock, or personal opinion? Don't know). Rear ones I've mentioned were from them.

I work in Guildford, but live in Farnham.. I used to go to Maidenhead aquatics in woking too (People were very helpful), but they have now opened one up in Farnham (bordon really) which is good. They sell tropica plants, and they said that they will order anything that i need from them which is helpful. I used to live in Woking for a few years before i really got into fishkeeping, and i visited pentangle a few times. Its part of a garden centre near knaphil, on the backroad to chobham. I used to think it was ok when i didn't know what i was doing, but the staff when i visited recently were not too knowledgeable.. I asked what Co2 injection kits they had and he wasn't really sure what i was on about. Fair number of dead fish too. On the plus side, they did have some fish that you don't see everywhere.

Im going to go across and have a look at Dorking aquatics at some point, which isn't too far to go for you if you drive.. any ideas what that is like?

I live on Goldsworth park and the one on the way to Chobhams not far. Sounds a bit like Petsmart near woking station first went too, staff had to look in book about species, plants etc, and dead fish there, so not been back.

But been impressed with both Woking and Weybridge Maidenhead shops so not really looked elsewhere.
