I'd like to add some new fish to my established tank but could do with some advice on what to choose.
I've got a 90l tank which is reasonably stocked with plants and has a sand substrate. It's currently stocked with small community fish - Neon Tetras, Harlequins and Leopard Danios, plus a few Ottos.
Everything is going well but my fish do all sit quite high in the tank, and tend to congregate at the front. Ideally I'd like to add a few other fish that would move around at a lower level, including the back of the tank.
Can anyone recommend any suitable fish? The LFS suggested Tiger Barbs (in a group of 6) but although I've never kept them in the past I am a bit wary due to their reported aggressive behaviour. They also suggested larger Tetras, such as the Red Columbian Tetra, though I know even less about this one.
Any advice, or suggestions, would be great. I do prefer groups of small, friendly fish but I would happily opt for a pair of slightly larger ones if that was the best bet (though I've had problems with pairs of Dwarf Gouramis in the past when the male has chased the female all around the tank).
