Can someone recommend me a silent (or as close to), filter?

I have a 65l tank which will be staying in my sons bedroom.

I currently have a 102F Maxi Internal Filter (Aqua One), which came with the tank, but it is quite noisy (vibrates a bit), and I think it might keep my son awake at night. So, I'd like something (not too expensive if possible), which a seven year old will be able to sleep through.

I'm just about to start a fishless cycle, so I would obviously like to get this before I start things off properly.

Any advice appreciated.

Cheers.

I have 3 filters on various tanks - 2 internal and 1 external, the external is near enough silent as is my larger internal.... all fluval by the way.

every single external filter i have ever used has been very quiet, the only noisy filters as far as i am concerned are undergravels that are powered by air pumps

i have 2 tanks in my room.. 30 and 50g.... i have 2 external whisper filters.. still hear it( a little buzzing and hear the water splashing - just get use to it

After 3-4 years you'll get used to it. I cant even sleep now unless theres a filter or 2 running.

Jewl makes a good filter.

I have 2 Fluval externals on my 75 gallon and they are 100% dead quiet. I can't even hear them when I have the cabinet doors open during cleaning. I would advise against getting a HOB as those become noisy when the water level drops a little and the water splashes back into the tank.

Thanks all, but can anyone recommend a specific model?

I've looked at a few manufacturers mentioned on the internet, and the only I can find which seems suitable for my size tank is a Fluval 2.

Are some of the recommendations on here only readily available in the US (makes sense considering the time I posted the question).

Any suggestions of filters available in the UK

The Fluval is, yes, but not the Whisper.

Anyone use a Fluval 2 who can tell me how quiet it is?

I have used the Fluval 2 and it is very quite (so are the larger internal fluval ones).

Its pretty quiet as long as you keep it a bit clean, and below the water level

ok think im a bit late but just wanted to agree with the fluval 2 being quiet, if you keep it below water level tho you will have to find another way to aggrevate the water

xXx
