Okay So I'm about to set up my 2nd 3ft tank
I need a new external filter.
currently I'm using a Eheim eco 2236 but want a new one don't like its internal design,

I'm eying up a teratec ex700 anyone go against it or have better recommendations?

thanks and best Regards
Carl

Yeah sadly I missed out,
only just recently picked up on PFK got issue 9 and 10 and don't think I can get the discount now :(
I have looked at the tetra one and love the inside design.

The thing that saddens me about the ECO is the water can bypass the media and same with some Debris on the classic its not possible.

From what I have seen of Teratec ex is it don't happen and please anyone correct me if I'm wrong.

From what I have heard, the Tetra filters are good design and build. I do not run them however, so can only quote what I have heard others say about them. I run a Fluval and a Rena. The fluval is a Stuborn s**t at times, as it is easy to spill water during maintanance, the impeller shaft is increadibly fragile and it can be difficult to re-fit the motor after maintanance. I will be replacing this filter as soon as I can.
I can recomend Rena though. My XP2 is reliable, and very good build quality. There is no bypass and has well designed all-round parts. They come with a complete set of media, however ammonia absorbers are given for one tray, which I replaced with ceramic. This choise of media with the filter is my only criticisum. Both filters are reliable when running though.
I would be happy to purchase either a Tetra or Rena filter, baced on my experince with Rena and the dissucussions I have had about tetra.
Both are good makes IMO.

it does help thanks,
Its just hard making a decision when it does cost a bit and want whats best,
I did consider eheim pro but its alot (although I know reliable)

Tetra ex I have heard can be prone to problems :(

not considered Rena XP2 to be honest I'll have a look at it.

p.e any decent aquarium sites that do reviews of products?

Go for the Tetratec. You'll find it online for around £50, it's an absolute steal. I've not heard about any problems with it; in six months since I bought mine I've not had a second's trouble. They really are as close to 'fit and forget' as you'll find.

I watched a demonstration of it in action and does look nice,
the internals are similar to the Eheim pro with the pipe going to the bottom,

My last question about it tho is it suitable for Marine as the eheims say they are and the tetratec don't !!

i use an eheim 2028 and havnt had any problems with it it is expensive but worth it in the long runi think i paid about £120 for mine. Its also easy to buy parts for as well highly reccomended

I have an eheim 2236, but Im looking for a new one,
Anyone know if tetratec can be used on Marine?

aRGHHH I went onto their website and e-mailed them tetra@tetra.net.
and I keep getting failed to deliver the mail to them :(
