Link!! <----- the cheapest you will find for large setup tanks.... the FE can obviously be changed to a proper larger CO2 bottle if the using of a FE bothers you :good:

I'm not entirely sure what 0.5L would equate into grams but im guessing it wouldn't be much more than 95g ish?.... I'm also not sure if the bottle is refillable?.... it's gonna work out very expensive if not and very time consuming constantly getting it refilled if it is refillable.

Either way.. the bottle would probably last you the matter of days on a 180L tank, if that. The link i gave above will make a 2kg or 5kg (if you can obtain one of them instead) FE setup for not much of a difference in price if you shop around for the best value parts. This dependant on use would last 3-4 months+ at a guess.

a 135ml bottle on ebay is 95g apparently so 500ml is about 350g?

it is refillable too, i read the diy guide but dont think i want to risk it being as dangerous as it sounds. if it really would only last that long i`ll probably give it a miss.

If that is the case then it will last a bit longer but on an 180l tank even 350g isn't going to last long.

The FE isn't as dangerous as it sounds lol (as long as standard common sense precautions are there)... infact i dont know of anybody either having an accident or been hurt by doing it ;). There is proper co2 bottles you can buy if the fire extinguishers part makes you uneasy... or is it just the whole setup your uneasy about?.

Sorry to spoil the party people. This may be a cheap way to make a CO2 system but it is EXTREMELY DANGEROUS!!!!!!. I am a service engineer for a company that makes high pressured lifting devies for the emergency services. Whilst you are fiddling about with a cylinder with 50BAR of c02 that is ready to come gushing out with one wrong move you are dicing with death. Just an example for you to understand how much 50bar of pressure is 2 years ago a fireman was killed when a breathing apparatus cylinder regulator came loose. This cylinder was 18Bar and was 5 feet from where he was standing and it blew half his face off. So imagine 50bar when your loosening with a spanner. It would like be sitting on a plane when a bomb went off.

My last word on this is DONT DICE WITH DEATH. High pressure cylinders should not be messed around with by unqualified people

this whole post scared the crap outta me.

LOL.... that's a fair enough comment.... however welders use this sort of stuff day in day out and there would be alot more moving and banging around involved.

If the whole idea really does put you off, you may be better to just not go there rather than be on tender hooks all the time :good:

i`ll just go with flourish excel i think lol, im gonna grow easy beginner plants anyway so i dont think co2 is a must.

sorry to have taken over your thread scotty

i quite like the look of this D&D system http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190351508700&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
