Hi all I've got a 230l tank and want an internal filtet as I don't like all the pipe work external come with so could someone suggest a good internal I could use

Fluval U4? I'm using Nelly's old one in my Korrall60 for a big turnover of water for my Squirrels, but they are rated to something like 55 gallons I think.

ehiem aquaball one of the best internal filters I have used, so quiet, fantastic filtration too. Only problem for your size tank you would need 2.

Or rather than the aquaball, look at the eheim biopwer filters. They look the same as the aquaball from the outside, but have baskets of substrat pro rather than lots of sponges. The biggest one (the 240) is supposed to be for 240 litres but like star4 says, I'd go with more than one in your tank. I'm running the 240 in a 125 litre tank.
And it's very quiet.

ooh not seen those before will have to have a look, although with my aquaball's I have added substat pro to the bottom baskets, works a treat. Do you know if the new ones also have the additional baskets? (or I will just look it up  )

I don't know if the biopowers have an option to add more baskets - it wouldn't fit in my tank if it was any taller, so I've not looked.
The bottom basket in the biopwer is the same as the new clip-together aquaballs, complete with cylindrical sponge, then the baskets for the substrat pro don't have the tube in the middle so they can hold more. On top, where the box goes in the aquaball, the biopowers have a fine sponge. I had an aquaball 2212 with an additional basket (the old push-together style) in the 125l till I go the biopower - they have the same number of baskets - and I much prefer the biopower.
The aquaball is now in my 60 litre and is working well in there.

I think fluval U4 like the goat. i got a U2, fantastic little filter and has everything an external one does and is really the easiest thing i have ever had to clean out!! o and there not at all noisy likle previous encounters you may have had. :D

fluval 3+ arrived today, isn't noisy at all, so i would say go with a fluval U4
