Hi, I just wanted to ask how quickly fin regrowth regains it's colouring, Odin's tail has been doing really well, and has regrown about 2-3mm already, and it looks like it may be regaining a darker colour, can it happen this quickly??

Depends on how bad
Jai had a right auto-feast once night about 8 weeks ago and he's almost back to normal but you can see where it was because the membranes are thinner, a bit spotty and a bit tatty, but if I had before and after pics you'd be impressed with his progress.

   auto-feast!!!!! thats one way of putting it.

sounds like your treating him well to get a good growth out of him in a short period of time, some take forever to heal and growth to start showing. Remeber that the colours of the betta is a combination of many, the base colour is black on all betta (except when there is a genetic flaw, which produce mutated colours) so what you see as darker is actually the black with his normal colouring pigment starting to develope again on top, he should get lighter again the more the regrowth continues

Daz I swear I was mortified when I saw his tail and thought I had a serial muncher on my hands, I have no idea what spurred him on to do this to himself in the first place but was delighted to see he didn't do it again after that. Being that he is a chocolate, his fins being apricot, the spotty parts are just blobs of apricot, a bit darker, so I'm guessing as time goes by he will revert to the pure wash of apricot he had before, rather than these darker bits.

mmm edible chocolate betta haha
he sooounds sooo perdy

I think Odin must be healing fast, the regrowth seems to still be going strong and I think his fins are still growing in general too, as the very ends have clear growth on them too.
I'm very happy for him though because his colour at the moment since I got him proper food is amazing, he's so vibrant :)
I'm optimistic he may even get most of his tail back, although poor thing looks more like a DT where he lost a big chunk out the middle to finrot :(
