what size tank (lxwx would i need to house a breeding pair of discus?

for just 2 discus and resulting fry for life? i would say 3ft long, 20" + high and 12" deep.

I thought about this myself lately, making a small tank with a pair of Discus and having it open topped, heavily planted with aquatic and semi aquatic plants with intertwining wood roots, deep sand bed and a myster at the top of the tank. to make it look like a sorta amazonian 'pond' or swampy still water with a slight hint of black water.

of course i'm to lazy to do it.

basicly i want a tank to house the breeding pair only and then ( hopefully if im successful) a tank to seperate the fry into .

yeh a bog standard 3 footer i think, doesent even need to be that tall if its a short term project.

basicly the plan is to keep the pair for life and hopefully get a few batches of fry from them along the way to raise up and sell on . its a toss up between doing that or getting something like a 55 gallon and doing a planted discus community.
