I Got A 20g Aqueon Aquarium Setup For Christmas. What Type Of Fish Is Recommended?
I Was Thinking Like Swordtails Mollies And Platies As Well As Guppies.
I Have A Filter And Heater.
And Have Had An Unsuccessful Fish-In Cycle Since Dec 26.
I Plan On Re-Doing It And Wanted Some Reccomendations.
I Am Keeping One Fish From The Aquarium......Male Neon Swordtail

The ideas you have listed sound good! Theres a link in my signature bellow for a fishless cycle follow these instructions and you should have no trouble. If you have trouble finding pure ammonia there is a link in the beginners reasource center which you will find also in my sig. If you still can't find pure ammonia let us know and we can tell you about other ways to do a fishless cycle. While your doing the fishless cycle this will give you time to do research on the kinds of fish you will want then make a list and post it on the forums and we can help you tweek it to meet your needs! :good:

Have a read of this =) particularly the maintainence, cycling and setting up a new tank sections.

In terms of stocking, try something like this:

8 x small fish (maybe guppies)
8 x mid sized fish (4 platys, 4 mollys/swordtails)
6 x small bottom feeders (corys, for example)

or

8 x guppies
3 x platys
3 x mollys
3 x swordtails

You'll need to add them slowly and I'd suggest starting with the platys. An alternative would be to do a fishless cycle as it is much kinder to the fish and saves them being exposed to high levels of nasty chemicals. It also saves you work - instead of doing daily water changes for weeks, you just need to test your water and add some ammonia :good:

With livebearers, either do all the same sex or have a ration of three females to every male. If you have a mix, be aware that they will breed and you need to find homes for any fry that make it to adulthood.
