Reccomendations For A 60l

Platy sizes, hmmm, mollies, guppys, danios, some barbs, lemon/black widow tetra. There are quite a few, research is key.

Those aren't even good choices, if you researched yourself, you would understand why. Mollies can get huge! And, they tend to do better in brackish anyways. Guppy is an okay suggestion, i'll give you that one. Danios, are way too active for a 15 gallon tank. Barbs may be okay, but they are very nippy, so the tetras may not be the best choice, unless i'm wrong?
I would personally steer clear of platys, they are nice fish but I have had lots of problems with bullying. If you got all females you should be ok though. If you want that size of fish I find male guppies get along together great I had 2 for 18 months and they were inseperable until 1 died last month. I would go with 7 neons 4 guppys and 5 khulie loaches. If you still want male platys I would buy more than 4 to spread the aggression. Good luck :good:
Are you sure you aren't talking about Swordtails????

Yes I know what a swordtail is and I have never kept one. Some people may have had different experiences with platys to me but Ive kept them for years and although the two in my bigger tank get on this has been a one off. In my experience females get on fine but Ive had one male bully another almost to death that is why he is in my other tank. I dont want to put people off platys they are nice fish (very nice when in a 1 male 2,3 female ratio but then you are going to have babys) but imo males can be very aggresive to one another.

Can someone tell me a platy-sized fish, suitable for a 60L, which wont over-rin me with fry?

To avoid over running with fry, get fish of the same sex

Any fish, when given the right conditions, will proiduce fry. It's just a matter of if you want them or not. The other fish and the parents will eat them if you don't remove the fry. They'll be live food in the tank for about a day and then nothing.

Hmm. My heater, at full power, seems to only get the water to 29c.

Im doing a fishless cycle and i know that 30-34 is best. I threw a blanket over the top of the tank to hopefully keep heat in.
Its weird, a few days ago, the water was showing up in the early 30's.

One thing ive read which is really for quik releafe in power cuts is to fill large drink bottles (screw lid) with near boiling water and put them in the tank, may be worth concidering every few days to boost the temp? Only an idea though :)

Nice idea. Might not be such a good idea when fish are present in the tank, but since im doing a fishless cycle ill give it a shot =]

Indeed, like I said it is only really intended as a last ditch resort in a power out :) fish bumping into bottles is better then fish floating upside down  . But for fishless of course, no clashes. Good luck!

OKay im almost fully decided on :

3 Platys: 1 Male, 2 Female
5 Neons: Mixed
And maybe 4 black neon tetras, cause i know my lfs has them.
And ill maybe get a snail or two.

Any objections?

Actually, ive thought about it, asked some people, and came to this conclusion;

3x Platy: 1male, 2 female
5x Neon Tetra
4x Black Tetra
3x Cory
3x Trumpet snail

just scanning this thread, someone said Mollies get "huge" thats one of the funniest things i seen on here, altho i guess it depends on your definition of huge LOL

So should i go with all female platys? Or 1 male and 2 females?

I would go with all females, it seems the boring option but I actually found them the more interesting fish when I had them. I gave mine away with a lot of fry to friends and lfs because of too much breeding. In the long run if you got 3 females (you can get 3 different colour varietys) you would save yourself many problems believe me Ive had these problems. They grow a little bigger than males and are much more peaceful. You have been correctly informed that these females may be carrying babies however if you are buying them from the lfs they are probably young fish and are very unlikley to be pregnant. Ask for the smallest ones and im sure you will be ok. Cant reply to any more posts as im flying to greece on hol in 4 hrs. Whatever you do good luck im sure you will be fine you have thought about your options well. Alan.
