Fish Herder
all my babies are gone, its all my fault.! my breeding tank is 30ltr and in a realy awkward place making it difficult to distrabute food evenly, and keep the tank clean. only about 15 of the fry survived the first week and only one seemed to be growing at all. i came home form work yesterday and could only see the big one, even shaking the plants about didnt reveal any other fry and so i thought it was pointless to keep a big tank like that up and running for one tiny fish so in my wisdom i decided to move him into a breeding trap in the comunity tank. set up the breeding trap and caught him by sucking him up in a tube. i then decided to give the breeding tank a wee clean and pulled out the plants, only to discover another fry, so i moved it too, and another and another. and eventualy i had 15 fry in this breeding trap, i thought id just leave them in there as id be able to feed them better and keep an eye on them. then to my horror i saw one of the fry swimming about in the community tank, dodging young platys then strait into the mouth of its own mother. looking at the other fry i thought, well, the larger fry wont get out but i was sooooo wrong, this morning, no fry left. they were slipping down the side of the plate on the bottom of the trap. lesson learnt. next time i will use a better tank, in a better position and wont get any stupid ideas of moving them. lesson learnt. gutted.
