my most used heater brand uses blaze orange for the center section on the heating element, and my favorite hob filter uses blue adjustment knobs… I personally like these to disappear from my tanks, when they are set up… these bright colors make the pieces harder to hide… maybe I’m just picky, but I like my tanks to look natural, when I get them done

I recently bought a couple of Chinese branded powerheads. They work really well, but they're bright blue. They're hard to hide.

The filter in my main tank consists of several 'buckets' locked together with clips. The 'buckets' are dark grey and they supply two sets of clips - a light grey set and a bright red set. The red ones are still in the box. The filter is in the back corner and there's a piece of wood covered in Bolbitis heudeloti in the front corner as even the pale grey clips stand out for me.

I use black as to power heads for my under gravel filtration power heads and air lines. With a black back cover on the tank you really have to look to find the air lines and power heads as it is black on black.

Here's my theory. The manufacturer made my new, super cheap powerheads bright blue because they knew when fish friends came over, they would look at the tank and realize I was a high status, big spender who could drop 17 bucks on a pump like it was nothing. It would get me prestige I wouldn't get if the powerhead were a sensible black. Quite possibly, my homemade undergravel filter would make me very attractive to women, if they knew I had such a high tech mindset.

Or, maybe they think I have clown puke gravel, neon coloured plastic plants, a ceramic skull with fluorescent green paint on it and glofish, and the colour of the device is intended to match it all.
