what do Bettas eat? i gave them a tiny amount of flake and some mini pellets this morning...but he didnt/couldn't eat them..he spat out the flake and couldnt fit the pellet in his mouth. I bought my panda cories wafers too..and they dont eat them the other fish do :/

you could feed them live food... or frozen live food... like blood worms (mines injoy theses) although he should eat flake

is his the first day you have fed him? Could be he's just settling into the tank. Keep trying for a week or so, he will either get hungry enough to eat them or point blank refuse, at which point you could look for alternatives like the ones mentioned above

yes..its the first day i've fed him. how many bloodworms should i put in..as im sure the others will gobble them up.

if you can count blood worms i'll be surprised.... mine are frozen in little cm[sup]2[/sup] cubes i cut theses up in to tinny amounts with a knife... so do what you see fit =D

i wouldn't worry if its his first day. he'll just be adjusting to the tank. mine did this then they gobbled up flakes =]

It can sometimes be 2-3 days before a new betta will decide to eat,- so try not to worry too much :) A little frozen bloodworm is good as a weekly treat. Mine also love live bbs if you can get that from your lfs? Feed your betta for 6 days of each week and give one day a week off :)

my 1st male took 2 weeks to eat! keep trying and if he's still not eating in a few days try some Betta pellets *these should be used as a stable diet anyway* :)

well...i think ive made my first boo boo....i got some frozen bloodworm from my local PET shop..and she told me to add a cube, then it will burst open.
she never told me to cut it up...so now all my platies, cory's and Jackson (he did eat some) have really FULL tummies....no food tomorrow guys! :/ hope they dont die from stuffing themselves stoopid. they have all been darting around like loonies today.

you have to be really careful with bettas as they keep eating even when they don't need to which does lead to problems, they only need small amounts of food *there stomach is the size of there eye*

TBH...he was the last to actually realise there was food in there!?
so he didnt eat nearly as much as the cory's and platy's.
bought some Dalphina and brine shrimp (freeze dried) today, just as a part of a varied diet.

just make sure you soak freeze dried 1st :good:
ah cool..didnt know that...is that why they didnt like the Daphinia? It floated on the surface ..so i sucked it out with the w/c :/

it expands once it gets into the water and if they eat it before it has expanded with bloats them quite badly
