Really Deep Wound On My Ram

Hey,

My Ram has a really deep wound on his side. It looks like the female actually did some damage this time. I can see a little blood, and at first it was okay. He was still eating and was active. I started treatment for it 2 days ago adding Melafix + Primafix. Today he didn't seem so good. He wasn't eating, and staying off in the corner by himself, just laying at the bottom...

I decided I was going to have to quarntine him. I ran out of Melafix, so I only added Primafix to the tank. I can't really tell if he has anything secondary growing out of the wound, but he doesn't seem right.


Two things:

Should I switch the meds over to something a little heavier, like a course of antibiotics
Should I add either Epsom or aquarium salt into the water?

Yes switch to antibiotics if you can issolate the sick fish for treatment.
If you use antibiotics in the main tank it will wipe the beneifcal bacteria out in your filter.
Plenty of aeration with meds.

Yep. I have already isolated the fish. I will pick up some medication asap. He is doing a little better, but still pretty lethargic. His color isn't great either.

Do you think I need to add salt (either aquarium or epsom) ??
