Hi all

Im fairly new to keeping fish, ive had the above tank running since february and i love it. Its my first ever tank and im very happy with it but i have an issue. At the front bottom of the tank the ceramic media and pebbles touching the "glass" collects alot of green algae and its very difficult to clean off without disrupting it massively and ruining how i want it. I know its because that part sees the most sunlight. So my plan is to re-level out the ceramic media sloping backwards so it adds visual depth to the tank and limits the amount touching the glass so algea cant collect.

This is a fairly big job as i have to move the pebbles then ceramic media. I want to know if its safe to move my fish in to a bucket for a short period while i adjust everything in the tank then put them back ,i think that would be kinder than doing it with them in. I plan to remove almost all the water apart from enough to cover the filter and ceramic media while i adjust it.

Thanks JG

Your fish should be fine in a bucket for a while. I recently had to move my 200L tank and my fish spent several hours in a storage box with the heater and a small internal filter and then a largish Featherfin Syno I was re-homing spent the entire night in the same storage bin and he was fine the next morning.

Ok thankyou for your quick response, im hoping it doesnt take too long, but you never know with these things

I find I can relax and get things just how I want them when I don't have to worry about the fish. I hate having to rush for fear of stressing them out too much. Mind you, catching the little darlings is always fun

Hope it goes well. :)
