Ray Update

i thought id do a little ray update for anyone whos interested
my male has grown a lot recently and is coming along really well,he is even showing interest in the female all of sudden and getting on top of her like in the pics.
i was just watching him and i noticed his claspers twitching and when i looked closer they were swelling up and opening out in sections then going back to normal,what does this mean?
and how do rays mate does the male get on the back of the female?or do they go mouth to mouth so to speak
i dont expect many people can answer these weird questions

Great pics Cane

It is still a small ray so it is nowhere near mature enough to be ready for mating.
It is male behaviour same as most males.

The topping behaviour is typical domination moves, our rays do it all the time.

Wait til they start biting each other

Rays mate belly to belly, lower belly to lower belly

the 1st signs of rays trying to breed is the male trys to do it doggy style

once that starts then it may take another year for the male to work out how to flip the female over into the misonary position thats when you get all the bite marks around the female disk edge were he is holding onto the disk with his mouth trying to pull her upside down

you will need a tank 7-8ft long and 3-4ft wide 8x4 would be perfect id say

im not 100% sure but i think he may have planted his seed

as he has started on the smaller female now trying to flip her over

the mating is aggressive but dont forget thats p14 breeding motoro are 10 x worse
