Well harvey hhas finally stopped sneezing but gained a massive scab streatching from one shoulder to the other and right over his back from the antibiotic injection plus the vet said he looked like he had mites. BUT he is now scab free just a bald bit on his back and a red bit about the size of your small fingernail but he is all healthy :D
I dont think he likes alot of people being loud cos he was jumping around last night when we had people over lol

Does anyone elses rats have a habit of wriggling inside their tops and licking your skin?

thats great :D

when i stroke my rats they lick me as a thank you then brux so much there eye nearlly pop out lol

ash

Glad he is better. I brought 2 rats today, I wonder what their habits will be lol

well our's rats have been in the wars a little of late, 1 had to be put down 6 weeks back, the other developed a score on his belly which the vet said he should also be put down as these spread and get very bad on rats.

However i been bathing him once a week and washing with per shampoo now for 3 weeks and it's all healed up, and he's no longing acting dozzy like he was before.
Lucky escape for the little bliter as i thought it was the end almost.

He loves gown down my wifes top or hiding in her hair (I shave all mine off ;) )
He's also very active and runs off if your not watching, his brother was a chilled out rat, and was sluggish but he was a dumbo and lazy as hell ;)

Thank God you didn't take the vet's advice and treated the 'sore'!!

Vets really infuriate me at times (and this isn't vet-bashing - I'm a vet student myself!) because when they simply don't know they make it up! I've had some vets tell me all sorts of rubbish before, and when I've challenged them and it's clear I know more than they do on ratties, they get arsey.

Hope he makes a full recovery very soon.

I had one rat with a golf-ball sized abscess on his tum just a fortnight ago, the whole area went necrotic and sloughed away - with 2 weeks of twice daily bathing and a course of antibiotics he's as good as new. I find people often don't expect ratties to have such a will to live and recover as they do!
