Ratio of males to females

Hi there,
I was just wondering what ratio of male to females would be good if I want them to breed? It would be for guppies and mollies.

1 male, 2 females. commonly called a "trio".

That is a good ratio but you can pretty much buy just one female from the LFS (if they keep their males and females in the same tank) and within a week or so find her pregnant. That is what happened to me. But 1 male for every 2-3 females is good.
