I had lost a Rasbora couple months back cause it was too late when I found it jumped out of the tank.
Today I saw another one jumped out! This time I quickly put it back in, now it seems alright.

Any idea why they like to jump out so much? Not happening to the rest of the neon tetras, blue / red platies, guppy.

Some fish do unfortunately, I had Lampeye Killifish that done it every night at lights out.

Mine used to do it when they were stressed.

Lost a plec a few weeks ago because he jumped out. Didn't find him for a few days :(

Some fish are jumpers. My moms friend had an oscar that would jump out of the tank at least once a day, sometimes 2 times. She would just pick him up with the dust pan and put him back in the tank. Fish are weird lol

My hoplos used to jump out of the tank at night, spend 4-6 hours outside after running under furniture, and then I or my father would hear them squeaking under the furniture and take them back to the tank.
I even saw them walk, they use those thick fins to walk over the ground. Since they are air breathers, they can stay as long as their skin is moist.
Only lost one, named Rex, who used to escape frequently when I had no lid. He didn't dry out. He froze to death on Christmas eve when he landed in front of the door and could not figure out where to go. He was technically still alive when dad picked him up and I put him in a bowl, but he could barely move so he died that night. -.- Probably hit his head too on the way down.

Mine have made a few mad leaps as well, not lost one yet though! Touch wood!

Unless my current ones suddenly gain the ability to teleport, there's no way they can jump through my lid. X)) Unless I forget the lid off.

Yeah the Juwel Rios have really nice lids, no big gaps. Whenever I had a "rasbora incident" it was when I was messing around with the tank, moving them around n stuffs :)

I have a home-made lid. Cables get squeezed on the edge, but at least nothing can fit through the less than 1 mm gap. It doesn't keep dust out or stop evaporation, but with my daily water changes that's not a problem anyway.

I'm assuming that your water parameters are all fine? As I've heard of fish jumping out through stress & ammonia poisoning.
I have harlequin rasboras & never known them try to jump out ..... Hmm, ones to watch me thinks!! Thanks for the heads up!!

Thanks guys for the sharing, guess my rasbora freaked out when I turned my mini tank to look for the baby fish :S So far it's still active in the tank and no one jumps out again (touch wood), thank god!

Lol a lot of people with the knocking / touching wood whenever they state something that can happen. X)) Kind of reminds me of the times I've been called a jinx for telling people what bad stuff will happen and it did, on several occasions. But it's not like I was causing it, I was merely warning.

For the sake of tempting fate, when I will install the other tank, I will name it TITANIC. LOL!

I lost two rasboras over a couple of weeks a while back and was convinced i hac sucked them up on a water change then my son found two little crispy rasboras on the floor behind my tank :-(
