Rarest / Most Sought After Fish In The Uk

Its pretty much impossible to say what are "The most" rare or sought after fish in the uk, but for some pretty rare and sought after fish in general;
1. Blue eyed pleco/Panaque suttoni
2. Zebra pleco
3. Arowana's in general (particularly the platinum arowana's, often sell for thousands of dollars/pounds)
4. Rays in general

Koi can also be particularly sought after depending on the quality and size/age of the koi and its markings and colouring.
I've also heard albino betta's are quite rare, but as far as i'm aware they tend to have a lot of health issue's and often don't live very long so aren't that sought after despite their rarity. In fact a lot of rare albino varieties of various fish are very sought after.

fyi the loch ness monster aint a fish its a mammel

Interesting comment regarding something that's existence hasn't even been verified.

I don't know about ya'all in the UK, but here in Michigan I'd like to think the most sought after fish would be the moneyfish. You know, the fish that poops out money! Bout time the little buggers paid us back!

no wasent putting that 2 u :p just ignore me most pple do :D oh just a fyi the loch ness monster aint a fish its a mammel

And fyi when it did live on earth it wasnt a mammal either, it was a marine reptile :p

The guy just asked a question, can we please get serious? First thing that comes to mind for me is Arowana's

The Ferretfish is a rariety, i've always wanted one. Not much information is avaliable on them actually. I once saw one at Birmingham Aquatics selling for £420. The funny thing is that they aren't actually that difficult to breed so it puzzles me why there aren't more of them :/

Another one is Torpedo Barb.

the most sought after loach
is the Emporer botia botia Sp.
Despite having been known since 1993, very few fish have ever been exported
and will always command a high price because of rarity and desirability

thats what i immediatly thought but couldnt rember the name only seen 2...........one in a take away shop window and one in a garden center for £450

As Andy said, it's up to eprsonal preference. *All* the fish I want are impossible to get, whereas things other people have listed like zebra plecs are (comparatively) easy to find but cost a lot of moolah.

Nothing personal is meant with this quote but £450 is a very small ammount to pay in the world of top class highly sought after fish. Some rays and the top end Asian arowana's start at prices in the tens of thousands of pounds and just keep going up. The most expensive fish in the world ever was a Koi carp that sold for somewhere in the region of £250,000 if i remember rightly and some albino varients of already sought after fish have exchanged hands for sums that could buy you a small house.

wasnt there a "breeder" on here recently who had nurse sharks and remorays.now thats a fishkeeping rarity
that would be aquadreams who happens to be the funniest troll ive ever ever seen

OMFG! Why do people join this forum if they just abuse other peoples threads? Why cant you just answer a question without putting the topic starter down by making pathetic jokes that arn't even funny about there question? You wouldnt like it. And i can take a joke but why dont you start a joke thread on the non fish bit?

The rarest fish are probably either:

Arowana
Mudskippers
zebra plec (not as rare as the others)
rays

Im not that shure but i think it would look something a bit like that.
