Can anyone suggest what killed my Betta

It was fine yesterday, but today I noticed its left side looked purple rather than its usual bluey green colour.but when i turned the aquarium light on it looked grey and as if its scales had all died. The left pectoral fin seemed useless and it did not seem able to control its movements and looked so pathetic , not like its former glorious self. A few hours later it died. I am unsure what caused its death. I would love to get another Betta(HM) but am worried now.

What was the temperature of the water?
How old was your betta?
How often did you feed?
How often do you preform water changes?

Could be hard to pinpoint exactly. Sorry to hear of your loss though

:rip: betta. :flowers:

Thanks for getting back to me.
The temparature was 26 degrees.
My betta is only a few months old.
I fed my fish twice a day with a good quality nutrafin max food.
I performed waterchanges about once a week.

He liked to hide around the back of the heater. Could he have been burnt?
Do you think it would be safe to get a new betta or not?

I would first clean out the container well before you get another betta. Sounds like you have everything else right though, so I think you would be fine getting another one.

If he was burned from your heater, more then likely you would have seen a type of white spot on him, much like when one of us gets burned. That could not have caused him to die, unless he was stuck.

What size was your tank??

Thanks for all the advice.
my tank is an elite 60 litre tank.
He wasn't burned cos he didn't have a white spot and certainly wasn't stuck.
My other fish seem to be happier now he is gone.
