I've just come home to find my snowball has passed away, I've taken a couple of pics to show you how I found the poor thing. My filters are very mature and I have virtually zero nitrate

I'm absolutely gutted :( I could understand that if I had lost a cardinal or two that something was definatley up with the water.

My L134 and blue phantom are still ok though which im very pleased about!.

Parameters are as follows.

PH 7.4
Ammonia - 0
Nitrite - 0
Nitrate - virtually 0
Hardeness - hard to soft

Feeding is a mix of frozen mussels, algae wafers, hikari carnivore pellets and cucumber.

I'm doing partial water changes with R/O water once a week 10% which equals 18ltrs. Then dosed up with 15ml aquaponics 7 day plant food. Any ideas would be great if you could pass them on :)

Im sorry for your pleco's death. He was a stunning little pleco :rip:
Maybe your pleco died of internal parasites or something. Did he have any symptoms that something was wrong (when he died)? Was he healthy?

Nothing out of the ordinary really, was happily feeding away in different areas of the tank. The only thing I can think of is I had to break down the tank to catch the other plecs on Monday evening that I sold, maybe he/she was stressed after the disruption?. I did leave the lights off after an for most of Tuesday to let the tank calm down.

It's always the random deaths that confuse you as you don't really have an idea from where to start from :(

Regards

Matt
