Hi.Sorry to bother you all with yet another problem.
I seemed to have got over the whitespot issue, but now i seem to have another problem with my "Ranchu"
For the past 2 weeks,he doesnt appar to be eating anything.
He was always one of the first up to the top of the tank when the food was around, but now he just doesnt eat.
Ive tried more or less everything i can think of to tempt him,the food even drops right past his nose.....but nothing doing.
All of the other fish are fine.
I check all levels fortnightly, and do weekly water changes (approx 20%)
"stress coat is always added to fresh water before i put it in tank, monthly gravel cleans, and i dont overfeed.
Here is a picture of him....and also....he seems to be losing weight.
I was wondering if i should try adding "melafix" to the water as i understand that it does have general medicinal properties???...i may be wrong.
Help please :(

George, are you sure he's losing weight? The reason I ask is that one of my koi, Sachi, my littlest, seemed to be not eating either, but she? has stayed healthy, even though she's a runt. I worried that she was losing weight also, but I think it was just because the other fish were growing while she was staying the same. She's now in the outside pond and doing well, even with the jumbo (in comparison) Cho-Cho, our yellow Ogon. Also, what size food are you feeding? I do a mix of larger pellets for the big fish and smaller so the little fish have food that will still fit into their mouth...hope this helps! ;)

Hi koimum.
Thanks for reply.
Yes,he is definitly losing weight.A lot of people have noticed it when they see the fish.
I normally feed flakes/different sized pellets/brine shrimp/daphnia/tubiflex worms etc....but he just doesnt want to know.
Nothing tempts him at all now.
He still swims around very slowly(he used to be very quick and inquisitive, but now more or less stays in the same place) :dunno:

There cute, what does it look like when the fish goes to the toilet, goldfish are always hungry so there is definately something wrong with him, have you tried an anti internal bacteria med on him.

hi wilder. All he seems to "pass" now is a VERY fine white strand of poo.
Could you give me the name of this remedy please?
And would it be ok to use it in the main tank (as i dont have a hospital tank)?

Has he been pooing long stringy white poo for a while as that is an indication of internal parasites.

Yes,i suppose for about a week now..(sorry wilder.....have to go now but i would be gratefull for any advice please....and will read answer tomorrow....many thanks)

Sound like he has internal parasites you will need to get a med called this I will get you a link, but don't no how good it will be, also with internal worms watch out for secondary infection you might need an internal bacteria med as well.

all i can add is that when you see white stringy poo its the inside of the intestine being sloughed because its being irritated by parasites usually.

Hi wilder.
Many thanks for the advice.
I did buy some "Interpet Anti Internal Bacteria" treatment on the way home from work today, and ill get some of that "Sterazin" tomorrow.
Although he is quite poorly, hes still able to swim around the tank slowly, and hopefully he will pull through in the end.
Also, many thanks to black angel for your comments

Good luck, hope the ranchu gets better, cute goldfish.
