I'm new to keeping cichlids but was just looking at the fish index to get some ideas. I'll be getting a 16 UK gal tank soon and I was hoping to get some dwarf puffers but if I can't get any then rams would probably be my second choice, what does anyone think? Also can I keep ottos with them to keep the tank clean?

Yes, otos and rams are fine together.

How big is a 16 gal UK in US terms? I'm clueless, lol. If it's less than 15 gals, I wouldn't suggest the rams. If it's less than 10 gal, I wouldn't suggest the dwarf puffers (otos wouldn't be good with THEM BTW).

You can have a pair of rams in a 10 gallon... and yes, otos are fine with rams.

15 Imperial gallons = 18US gallons, so rams would be fine!!

Thanks for the feedback everyone

That's sorted my fallback option if I can't get the puffers :D

Huh?

You can easily keep a pair of Rams in a 10 gallon US. You can easily fit 3 Dwarf Puffers in a 10 gallon US.

You might even be able to put something else in there besides ottos.

yeh a pair of rams would do perfect in a ten anda otto or 2 would be okay aswell
