Hi. I would like your thoughts on a couple of different fish. How many Honey gourami could I keep in a 12 gallon Eclipse tank? How many German rams could be kept? I'm not talking about keeping them together, just one species? Thanks

Does anyone have any suggestions on how many of either of these could be kept comfortably? Thanks

having kept and bred rams previosuly(unsuccessfully), i've found thm really finicky creatures that need a specialist, soft water acidic tank, ofen with peat substrate etc, and i've finally given up on them, as, ven afer setting up a special breeding tank for them, i could only raise the fry for a week or so before they all died, and then the female killed the male, happened 3 times before i gave up.

unless you're prepared for this, plus their short lifespans, 2-3years max, then i'd suggest the honey gouramis, they stay small, and are more tolerant of water paremeters, case in point, my LFS keeps them in a slightly brackish system. They're also more active fish generally, rams are often shy, at first at least.

My recommendation would be to go for the honey gouramis
