My little Rams have spawned again. This time I actually see eggs, though! I've never seen eggs before. Don't know if they've eaten 'em or some of the others have, or what. At any rate, there are eggs this time, and lots of 'em. I found them when I did the morning check of the tank. So exciting! :fun:

I took pictures of the eggs. Let me find 'em....

Some of the pictures were taken with flash and some without, hence the color difference.

They're watching the eggs, and "sitting" with 'em tonight. I haven't done a pH test on the water at this place, so I have no idea if the water is going to be too hard for the eggs to hatch. We shall see...

Congrats! :) Hope the pH is alright... fry are so exciting! (and cute )

unlucky, I have never seen mine spawn on the ground before, why dont give them a raised smooth flattish stone to spawn on, then at night they usually sleep ontop of it. Hope it works out next time (mine are useless lol)

Sorry about the eggs, better luck next time. Were they blue or bolivian Rams?

I hope mine will spawn soon. :)

Don't worry Lizard,it's very common for young couple not to know what to do.It usually takes a few tries before they get it right.A couple of things tough,if they are in a community tank it will be almost impossible for them to survive, and second check that PH make sure is at favorable level for the eggs to hatch.

Blue Rams :)

Unfortunately, I don't have anywhere to put the Rams to spawn, so it's just going to have to be in the community tank :/ If fry survive, then they survive. If not, then oh well. Still a bit disappointing, though.

Rams are notorious for eating their eggs. There are many theories as to why.
Best bet in the future is to remove them and hatch them out without the parents.

I've read that rams are very protective of their young........... oh well!

Good luck with them! I may be in the same boat soon if my fat female is anything to go by

Ram's are usually great parents, and quite protective with their eggs. Breeding them in a community tank really isn't what you want to do. If they have to try to protect their eggs from scavengers Like loaches, oto's or any other fish that keep trying to get to the eggs. They will do what they think is right, and eat them. Your best bet is to spawn them in a species tank alone. I have bred them successfully in a 15gal. tank. And the pairs I spawn are great parents.
