Hi

Stuck a post in the new world cichlid branch but cant seem to upload pics there maybe its just me.

Are these Rams a male and female, or are they both male. Iv looked for the tell tale signs, no pinkishness on either belly. Maybe you can help.

Let me know what you think.

Cheers

If any mods see this could you move it to New world - cheers

I'd go with male and female. Though they aren't the best looking rams, how long have you had them?

The colouring, not very good. Hopefully will colour up in the tank, once settled :)

thats not very nice telling someone their fish aren't the best looking

for the record i think they look very pretty tho i dont know much about them!!!

Cheers Double!

I think its just the camera to be honest. They are very bright yellow, blood red eyes and a wonderful blue shimmer. Just need to know if theyre mr and mrs.

:)

If they are like other dwarf cichlids, then usually the male is more colourful with more striking markings, and often in cichlids, is the larger fish too. I would say you have a male and a female there.

I think they're nice fish. I know Rams can be very colourful, but every one can be different. Maybe they will get more colour as they settle into the tank. Feed pleanty of real food, bloodworm, daphnia etc, and try and keep the nitrates down, and they will colour up nicely.

Calm down. They most likely will colour up, they have only been in the tank 5 days. Sorry if you're offended by the fact I said your fish weren't colourful.

Male Rams have a larger black crown at the front of the dorsal fin and also a long extended point on the end of the dorsal.

The females crown is much smaller and the end is usually rounded rather than pointed.
