Hi,

I've just had a close look at my tank this afternoon as i wondered why my rams (a pair) were hanging around in the planted area, to my shock my found that they had laid eggs on a plant leaf.

Now the tank is a community tank and they seem to quite happy in their little corner as long as other fish dont get to close. I dont know what to do with the eggs as i'm unsure to move them or not?!? I have a little 30 litre tank that i use when a fish is poorly but i haven't used it in a while i didnt know if i should move them into that tank with the mum? Only problem is i would need to put water in or use water out of the tank that the eggs are in and use the spare filter that i run in the commuity tank.

Any help on this matter would be a great help.

Do not move them Both parents will care for them and guard them very well. Once they are free swimming you could move them to make sure they don't get eatten by others. Once they can swim away from the nest thTs when other fish start to pick them off.

My blue acaras spawned a few times every time a few days after the fry start to swim I lost them. I would watch one fry swim too far and my red eye tetra moved in for the kill. This time I saved 10 because this time I was ready for them. I'm not a breeder fish keeping is my hobby. I read a little quote "breeders can't be hobiest and hobiest can't be breeders" I think it's ture.

Good luck with the eggs! My rams have spawned several times but they keep eating them, I hope that yours are better parents.
