i currently have a couple of angelfish in my tank, and a few panda cory's..

I have been looking at the blue rams in the LFS and love the colours that they display. I have enough room in the tank for a couple of rams. But i have two questions..:

1. are they ok with cory's.. the fish index says they are peaceful and happy with catfish, other posts have said that they mat attack the corr's (the eyes?) ... is this true.

2. Although they are peaceful with small fish, would they be less peaceful with fish such as angelfish or dwarf gouramis, where one is a cichlid, and the other is a colourful posing type ;) ??

i dont want to add them if they will upset the balance of the tank.. alternatively, can anyone else recommend a ram or similar with abit of colour which would work in the tank.. Otherwise i may just get some cardinal tetras for some colour in the tank.. (not neons.. or my angels will be munching.)

Cheers

I myself have had numerous Blue Rams with Cories, and never had a problem. The Blue Rams have never even shown any aggression towards them. I've also kept them with regular gouramies, never really gotten into dwarf gouramies, but I don't see there could be much of a problem. I also keep my Rams with Severums, so that should make it fine to keep them with your Angels. In other words, I say go for it.

Hey Squid

We have two marble angels, a male and a female blue ram, 5 panda cory's and 6 bronze cory's of different ages. The only fish the rams seem to notice, are the angels, and that's over territory. They chase each other around a bit, but nothing serious. The only time we saw the rams look at the cory's, was when the female cory was spawning and the female ram ate the eggs. But otherwise, they all seem to get on and make lovely tanks mates :p

The most important question still unasked: what size tank is this?

Although they are peaceful with small fish, would they be less peaceful with fish such as angelfish or dwarf gouramis, where one is a cichlid, and the other is a colourful posing type
This is how it pretty much is. Whether they can get along depends on how much room they have. The safe answer for now I think would be to just let the Rams rule the tank in peace and watch them thrive.
