ram tankmates in a 55?

sorry if this has been posted before (which i am sure it has) but since it wont let me search for "ram", im going to ask anyways.

my friend and i drove a little far out to visit these fish stores today we had heard about. he was plannign on doing an african cichlid tank in his new 55 but we saw these gorgeous rams and he couldnt resist so he got 5, 2 males and 3 females.

he wanted to do discus but ditched that idea when he realized that he probably couldnt keep up with 2 water changes a week.

can he do angels in the tank?

the tank will definately be planted.

rams can go with anything that isnt too much bigger then them,that isnt aggresive,that wont terrorize them, and is generally peaceful
so angels might be alright,dont take my word for it though as i havent kept angels with rams before

I keep two pairs of Rams with the angels and I also have a pair of Keyholes in there. They all get on great and leave each other alone.

Totally agree,I have the two species in a 55 gal tank as well.

Yes, angels should be just fine! Angels stay mostly near the top and rams stay mostly near the bottom. In a 55gallon, there would be plenty of room for staking out territories

whew-i forgot i had posted this topic.

well-he now has 9 rams and plans to put angels and discus in there too.
i say no to the discus but he insists...
