Ram Sick

My ram is being very lathargic, and rapidly breathing. The other fish are fine though. I think that amonia went up a little because of brother feeding them to much. Is there anyway I can treat the ram? And do those ammonia tablet things that fiz really get rid of the ammonia?

Extra water changes are the best way of controlling ammonia. How's your ram doing?

it died. It turned out the ammonia was fine, and he just had pop eye.

I'm sorry for your loss.

Rams are difficult fish to care for, because they have special needs (I don't care what anyone else says about it.) Their natural habitat is highly acidic, which, for obvious reasons, they prefer, and many of 'our' community tanks simply aren't suitable for them.

well I think I wont be getting another ram. I wish there were other cichlids that I could have instead.
