They seem to be swimming on their side. I've already lost about 20 out of 50 so I need your help as soon as I can get it. Are they too young to use mela fix on?(about a week)

what are the tanks params temp. is the tank matured have you fed them if you have on what?

Well the pH is around 6.6-7.0, Temp is about 83 F, and I've been feeding them both liquified food and every so often infosoria. Also, they are in a ten gallon tank with a sponge filter.

Oh, and I'm kind of new at the hobby and I still don't know what classifies as cycling your tank. I had it filtering about a week before I put the fry in if that means much...

Can you tell me your ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and water hardness? If not, go to the lfs and they will test it for you. Cyclying usually takes about 2 to 3 weeks. Staying on there side usualy means that your nitrites are high.

Next time put in a med called cycle and it helps your tank in its cycling processes and also they have something called top fin beneficial bacteria, that will help also. Next time also put some of your filter media in the new filter so that you have even more bacteria in there. It should only take about 5 days to cycle.

And it always good idea to use the parents tank water when you move the frys(eggs) to their tank. I usually use 50% from the parents tank and other 50% from the new treated water to fill up the fry tank. I think this works for most of the fish fry. Of course, you may need to adjust hardness, temperature.,etc.
But I think it is a good start point.
Good luck with next spawn. I hear Ram would lay egg often once they start.

Thank you all for sharing your wisdom. I will definently try some of these new techniques once I get another batch. Thanks again :)
