B) MY RAM EGGS HAVE EYES NOW!!!

...not the actual eggs that have eyes its jus that there is a black dot in the middle of every egg, except for the ones that werent fertilised, those have gone white.

the rams are now cleaning a piece of wood in turn, ie the male guard the eggs while the female cleans and vice versa. Does this mean that they are gonna move the eggs or the babys that hatch out of them?

is this normal for rams? i know cave breeders do it, like cockatoos and agassiziis, but Rams?

Im really hoping that the eggs hatch and the parents dont eat it.

ps. it is so true that rams learn how to care for eggs from their first attempt. The breeding male i have now bred with another female but ate all the eggs. This time he doesnt even eat the gone bad eggs (unfertilised), i even saw it try clean the unfertilised eggs actually!!!!

th eggs should hatch in less then a day, maybe a couple hours
congrats

yes its normal for them to clean the surfice

DD

OH GOD!!!! MY RAM EGGS HATCHED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!YAY!!!! is it safe for me to turn off the lights at night? and i hav got 2 siamese algea eaters, 3 ottos, and a red whiptail in the same tank, shud i remove them????!!!!

DAMN!!!! ALL the babies r gone now!!!! someone evil ate them!!!

some hatchlings also fell into the substrate while busy wriggling......... so dissapointed. The parents also started to loose interest in them when they were at the wriggling stage.

Im definately taking the eggs out next time and will take care of them myself. :/

Let the parents get the hang of taking care of their eggs, if you try to take care of them, it will become very time consuming and stressful to you.

Good luck with the next spawn

Do not remove the eggs next time, instead let the parents take care of them, eventually they will get the hang of it.
Another thing, rams do better when they are by themselves for when the fry start swimming, they will be so stressed out trying to protect their babies, that eventually ended up eating their own.

 :D Hi JER My name is Curtis I keep rams also mine are very prolific but lousy parents found this site which helped me greatly I have posted many times concerning my rams many have been helpful so here's my contribution to helpful ram knowledge http://www.aquatic-hobbyist.com/profiles/b...ambreeding.html Hope this helps worked for me got 60+ fry 1/4 t0 3/4 inch out of two spawns Sincerely Curtis

I just read the web page attached to the link you posted. It seemed like a great article, thanks…

A quote the author of the article made…
Peroxide is a strong oxidizing agent that serves multiple purposes. It is both anti-bacterial and anti-fungal. After a short while, it breaks down into its base components: oxygen and water. This helps add oxygen to the water for the eggs. It also requires no diluting afterwards. It is, quite simply, the most perfect assistant to egg hatching I have found to date.

Am I to understand that if I suspect I have a bacteria or fungi problem… I can simply and safely add some peroxide to my aquarium water and this will aid in ridding my aquarium of the bacteria or fungi? In the article he goes on to give dosages but I didn’t want to post the whole thing…

:D I suppose you could but dosages are unknown to me burt it works in the jars to prevent fungus mostly and it's 3% stuff you buy at wal-mart worked for me dose every 12 hrs. Probly will have to dose more offten in aquarium because of filtration maybe even stronger amounts just a guess really have no idea Sincerely Curtis
