Raising Ph

No worries. The more ideas the merrier. :)

I see what your saying about contact with water flow but i cant see this making a diff. Wuldnt that be like saying if you went with just coral sand, only the top section is gonna work? Again i cant see it being in the filter making any difference as the ocean rock you buy is limestone. Anyone else?

edit- Limestone contains calcium carbonate, which when dissolved in water increases both the GH (from calcium) and KH (from carbonate) components. Increasing the KH component also usually increases pH as well. Conceptually, the KH acts as a ``sponge'' absorbing the acid present in the water, raising the water's pH.

baking soda 5ml per 10 gall or something ?
epsom salts 5ml per 10 gall or something ?
aquarium salts -----

I think the epsom salts raise the gh/kh and the baking soda raises the pH slightly, only problem is you have to calculate the percentage everytime you add water to the tank.....
Stable pH is more important, ocean rock/tuffa rock helps, or the caribsea cichlid sand :good:
test kit I use is the API master test kit, ood kit and easy to use, only problem is there is no gh/kh in it

Just to clarify a little. Baking soda raises ph and kh. It will max out at around 8.2. Thats it. After that you will only continue to raise Kh if you add more. Epsom salts raise GH only.
