Just wondered if there is a defo yes or no as I'm out of water conditioner and may need to top up the levels this weekend?

It honestly depends where you live. If you're in a rural area, then it's safe; if there's a lot of industry or major roads near you then, no, it might be carrying pollutants.

Do remember though that for topping up, or for water changes of around 20% or less, dechlorinating is not vital. The amount of chlorine in the water supply is fairly small, as it's only there to kill odd, loose bacteria, not healthy colonies like you have in your filter.

it will be different to whats in your tank already, ie Ph, Gh, KH etc etc. So small water changes will be OK, i wouldn't recommend doing a massive one. It also makes a difference in the water has been lying around for a bit.

edit...what Fluttermoth says really and you can water change without dechlor at 20%.

Thank for picking up on that, Ian! I was thinking about that while I was replying and then forgot to say it
