Why should it have to? That's like me putting you in a jail cell with some gang members, and waiting until your all bloodied up before I move you to a different one.

yeah unfortunately he's about right, really the only fish who can stand up to cons when they are breeding is fish who would eat them as soon as look at them anyway. in which case if you like your cons it's best not to keep them with them!

Yes, don't forget in the wild if a fish gets aggressive with another, there's always plenty of options to escape, but in the confines of even a large tank things can get very nasty very quickly.
