While my fish having babies 3 times a month was fun for a while, it has now become out of control in accordance to my resources..... I am looking into keeping guorami's and cichlids now, for their low spawning rate....

Here is the list:
5 fancy guppies,
2 Balloon Mollies
2 mollies
102 Fry (fancy's, mollies, and baloon mollies.)

Here is my question:
Has anyone had experience selling this many fish back to the LFS?
Do you think they would take all 111 of them?
If i asked them if they would take them all in exchange for 4 cichlids do you think they would??

I would have called them to find out, but they are closed, and i am looking for quick answers....

THanks Much
Jason

It all depends on the lfs! I get a dollar in trade for each guppy I bring in. They have to be colored up and about an inch long. ready for sale, basically. It's not much. but it pays for my fish food and the occasional plant.

i agree, lfs usually only take the guppies when they're ready to be sold. Frankly most won't have the time to raise them.

You might find some that'll take the fry in as feeders -_-

just snip off all the males gonopodums and you dont need to worry about breeding again.

Unless ur in America or somewhere that allows feeders but that's not a nice thing to do and is against the law in my country anyway.

I know that BettaBlueMan has sold fry to his lfs.

well... you could keep the fry and have them as feeders for what you want to get. Or you could separate the males and females, and wait a few weeks for the fry to color up then trade them in. I'm thinking of a goldfish pair for my next 20 or 29g i get. I have never seen them spawn, ever.

Yeah, a lot of LFS will give you store credit for your fish, but they won't usually take fry. Your fish will have to be old enough for the LFS to sell in their tanks.

I think you're looking at this in totally the wrong way...try and start up a fry tank (they're not hard, a tank with a heater, thermometer, sponge filter, no gravel) and let them grow out...every month or so you'll have more to sell to the LFS. Then, when you've got enough in credit, you can buy cichlids AS WELL AS your livebearers.

I sold my guppies to individuals by advertising over my radio stations web page. They were sold at 7-8 months old though. There's many lfs that will pay me $1.50 per guppy is they're over a inch long but 111 i doubt they'd take right away. Maybe about 50 every 2 weeks or something(thats how often my lfs was buying off of me). You'll good luck getting rid of your adults right away though.

What is the LFS. anyways u should definently grow them out then try sellin them to pet stores that will take em. then use that money to get ur new fish. o yeah how do u do that thing where you say what tank you got and what u got in it. can someone plz get back to me with that. :S
