Can the Quikrete brand of river stones be used in an aquarium? Their rocks... They look like an ordinary stone but I dont know if they are safe? If so can I just give it a vinegar rinse and then rinse the rock off really well with normal water?

I have not seen Quikrete river rock, but it should be safe. I have a couple pails of river rock purchased from a local landscape supply for 75 cents a 3-gallon pail. River rock usually refers to varying sizes of pebbles that are well rounded and smooth, such as one finds in a flowing river. Most will be granite because this is a hard mineral--not meaning "hard" as in high GH but hard as in very slow at wearing down. The vinegar test is fine just to make sure.
