Quickest And Safest Way To Cycle

also in the add and wait method it says this
The nitrite spike will generally take about twice as long to drop to zero as did the ammonia spike. The reason for this is two-fold. First, the nitrite processing bacteria just develop slower than those that process ammonia. Second, you are adding more nitrite daily (every time you add ammonia, it is transformed into nitrite raising the level a little more) as opposed to the ammonia, which you only add once at the start and then waited on it to drop to zero. During this time, you should occasionally test for nitrate too. The presence of nitrate means that nitrite is being processed, completing the nitrogen cycle. The nitrate level will also go off the chart but you will take care of that with a large water change later. It will seem like forever before the nitrite finally falls back to zero but eventually, almost overnight, it will drop and you can celebrate. You are almost there. Once the bacteria are able to process 4 or 5 ppm of ammonia back to zero ammonia and nitrite in about 10 to 12 hours. You are officially cycled.

i dont get it about the spikes or anything help?

When it say's spikes what it means is that the ammonia and nitrite will rise and rise until they can't go any higher, and that is a spike. The highest the levels will go before they start to drop .

That stuff doesn't do anything at all. It won't speed up your cycle in any way. It's just a marketing ploy. If there were any bacteria in there they'll be dead because of being too warm and sitting on a shelf for ages. You've wasted you money buying that stuff.

My Jewel tank was second hand so thats another reason i changed the filter :good: The fluval 3 is very very adjustable, but i have made a little plastic thingy to deflect the flow. The reason for using the fluval 3 over the fluval 2 is that as i slightly overstock the females (found this makes for a more peaceful less bitchy environment, LOL), so needed the extra turnover of water. The females dont tend to mind the flow anyhow.

The test kit you have linked is a good kit. I use APi kits. However, they only test the water, there is nothing in the kit that will change your water in any way. Never let any of the test solutions get in your tank.......your fish will die.

From a personal view, the less you play around with things that claim to adjust this, or lower that etc....the better :good:

ok ok i mite do the add daily method so my filter can handle anything also dont u need to change the media in the filter every month so u need 2 cycle every month?

LOL.....where are you getting your info from?? The fluval I have has 2 sponges, they get rinsed "In Tank Water" every 4-6 weeks during a water change. Just squeeze them gently in the water you have siphoned out. If I need to replace them, I just change one. That way you've always got mature media in the filter :good:

hmmk will do does anyone know any cycle with fish a female betta would be the fish

Sorry, but I'm getting a bit tired of you asking the same questions over & over again  You have been told what your options are by me and others. If you wanna take shortcuts fine, go ahead, but just remember what you have been told when things go wrong.

sorry i want to be as safe as possible  i got alot to do for these fish

sorry i want to be as safe as possible  i got alot to do for these fish

So if you want to be as safe as possible, why do you keep going on about putting fish in before the cycle has finished??

im not very pacetent

Then quite frankly I have no idea why you want to keep fish. If you can't be bothered to set up the tank in a way that doesn't harm the fish ( and if you add any fish while it's still cycling . you WILL harm them quite a lot ) then don't keep them.

And it's " Patient"by the way.
