heya

just to let everyone know found a fairly quick way...well the lazy mans way of a water change!

i had a spare pump lying around from my juwel vison tank as i took out the internal filter system.

i also have a syphon for taking out the water.

i placed the pump into a net (so no fish could get into it) put it into the water in the tank connected the syphon end to the output on the filter head and the other going into a bucket

voila! water streaming out ..

reversed the same process for placing the water back into the tank! which took less than a couple of minutes.

useful if anyone has a spare pump lying around!

So no gravel vacing then........not good

I've just started using something like this but for filling the tank back up. I bought a big plastic tub which I fill with water in the bathroom, dechlorinate and use a pump to pump it into the living room and into the tank. works a charm and saves lifting buckets.

I just syphon it out the back door to gravel vac.

Gadgetman1805, if you use the pump to get the syphon going, you could then pull the pipe off to gravel vac.. saves sucking on the pipe

heya thanks! yep still gravel vaccing alongside! but tht it was jus quick and easy! saving buckets cracking from lifiting high and being drenched or drips all over the carpet!

thanks

This is exactly how I do all my water changes. and by then placing the end of the syphon onto the cold water tap, I can fill the tanks wuicker than they drain.

End result is being able to change 100 gallons of water inside 45 minutes.

I haven't done a gravel vac in my tanks for about a year now. If you have the tank set up right then almost nothing will settle on the bottom.

yeah we do that on our big tanks, hook the hose pipe up to a pump and leave that running draining water out of the tank while i do some gravel vaccing and take out a couple of buckets that way
